Albert’s Cairn
A homely pyramid erected as a sign
of the mourning heart: inverted,
curves rooted underground.
Its tip a spearhead left to air
always we look up to it
though it seems smaller every year
rested upon as we catch-breath,
marvel at this show of all-love
carried up-hill by hands
other than the lover’s,
sway in spinning elation, a motion
which may source from the sincerity
of that wifely plaque
or perhaps the heights they never peaked.
